Within SRVEA, we have many ways for our members to get involved in the function, goals, and leadership of our Association. Participation in one or more of our committees allows our association to grow which helps more and more of our members. Committees are appointed by the President and approved by the Executive Board.
Membership
Chairperson Kathleen Hermann, Walt Disney Elementary School
Our Membership Committee takes care of the planning whenever we have a social event or meeting for our members or Rep Council. Responsible for membership promotion of units from schools to provide for representation.
Communications
Chairperson Laura Finco, Stone Valley Middle School
Our Communications Committee manages the communications that go out to our members and community including our website, newsletters, bulletins, and press releases.
Political Action

Our Political Action Committee develops and implements plans for SRVEA participation in the political process. Responsible for making all association acitivies and legislative actions on the local, state, and national levels.
Human Rights
Chairperson Japhia Mott, Walt Disney Elementary
Raises awareness of the membership to human and civil issues by retrieving and disseminating information relevant to human and civil rights. Offers leadership in the development of human rights issues and their impact on the Association.
Women's Issues
Chairperson, Laura Finco, Stone Valley MS
Responsible for making sure the District and Association are in compliance with Federal and State laws regarding gender equity. This committee celebrates the contributions of women to the field of education and works in conjunction with the Human Rights Committee.
Health and Safety
Chairperson, Kathy Tussy, California High School
Works with teachers and administration to ensure good health, safety, and working conditions.
Budget and Finance
Chairperson, Dee Dee Judice, Golden View Elementary
Along with the treasurer, this committee develops the yearly budget proposal for the Executive Board. Decisions made on how much money to allocate for the variety of tasks it takes to run our organization.
Organization
Chairperson, Nancy Malcom
Assists the Negotiations team and supports them with information, fact finding, and contacting our members. Additionally, this committee will develop ways for our members to become active in the Association.
Instruction and Professional Development
Chairperson, Lydia Schneider, TSA
Plans, organizes, and facilitates professional development training for the Membership. Coordinates with learning institutions so members who attend trainings can receive accredited professional growth hours for salary advancement.
*Grievance
Chairperson, Margo James, Pine Valley MS
Our Grievance Committee consists of trained representatives who assist our site reps and members at their school sites to solve perceived contract violations. The committee also determines whether or not a grievance should be taken to arbitration.
*Bargaining/Negotiations
Chairperson, Darren Day, Bollinger Canyone Elementary
The Bargaining Team handles our negotiations with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.
*Elections
Chairperson, Betty O'Neill-Goodrick, Charlotte Wood MS
The Elections Committee manages the details whenever SRVEA has an internal election or vote. Charged with ensuring that the elections are conducted in a fair and impartial manner.
*These committees are usually comprised of members with a track record of working with the union and usually aren't the first committee that a member would be appointed to.
